The weekend we decided to head into Philadelphia. What a blast! We took a train in and it made the trip so easy. Only about 20 minutes from Jersey to Philly.

Waiting for the train.

In front of Reading Terminal Market.

This is Ricks Philly Steaks. This is a hot spot for celebrities. Everyone (including my husband) told me that you have to try your first Philly Cheese Steak here.

See Boston playing with the salt and pepper shakers. Easily entertained folks.

I decided to skip on the traditional cheese whiz and ketsup (sick) that goes into the Philly steak and just get provolone. Maybe next time. I love how your only option for a drink is Coke. Awesome! I was a bit skeptical at how good everyone said it would be, but I'm telling ya I crave it now. The bread they use is soo good. Next time I think I'll get peppers too.

The
Mennonite bakery counter in Reading Terminal Market. The best
freakin' cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life! For real!

Independence visitor center.

Can you see Independence Hall? The old buildings were beautiful.

This was Liberty Bell Center where the Liberty bell is held. Can you see the long line to the right? Sorry folks were not waiting in line with these kids.

I can't remember now but I think this was called The Signer representing one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence.

I think this place was called the Independence Living History Center. They had actual painted portraits of men and woman who helped serve in the birth of our country. It was really cool.

George Washington

One of the old court houses. It was set up to replicate the way it would have looked back in the 1800's. It even had the little box in the middle where a criminal would stand in front of the judge and jury to be judged.

Independence Hall were the Declaration of Independence was signed. We didn't get to go in because you had to have a ticket and they were out for the day. They have an open house after 5pm but there was no way we were keeping the kids there that long. Next time.

On the way home.
Rendon was just about to crash. We were only there for about 4 hours total, but that was plenty for our kids. Next time we will go early in the day, you know, before nap time. It was a lot of walking for our kids, but still a neat
experience.

How, how fun Cassie! What an adventure! In some ways I'm really jealous you get to do it. :) I'm glad you got there safe & sound. I look forward to hearing about all your historical & exciting road trips! Go NJ!
Sounds like a fun trip.
The park with animals is Desert Breeze Park in Chandler. I had never heard of it either, but I have a friend who always seems to know the best spots to take our kids. It was so much fun. There was an elephant, dolphin and sea lion that spray water for 5 minutes and then for the next 5 the main water would drain while little geysers spouted water on the edge of the pad.
Cassie, your family is soooo cute! What a fun adventure in your lives! It's good to see you happy... :)
Remember going to 7-11 to get our Cokes when I used to bribe you to come help me clean my house? Glad to see you're keeping the Coke tradition...
